YES! Coming out on DVD!!!

I was so happy when I saw that this was coming out on DVD. On every Saturday night PBS plays reruns of "Two's company" and I got hooked pretty quick. If you haven't seen it, you've got to check it out.

I was not even *aware* of this show until this afternoon when I found Series 1, 2 and 3 for $9 each at my local Half-Price Books store here in Texas. Elaine Stritch in a Britcom - how could I not love it? I brought them home, curled under a quilt on the couch with a cup of Earl Grey and have been laughing ever since. What a WONDERFUL gem to find - and a fantastic way to spend a cold, rainy weekend! I'll definitely make Series 4 part of my next order from Amazon!

I personally feel these character-intense living-room Britcoms are the best - shows like A Fine Romance, As Time Goes By, Good Neighbors, and now Two's Company - where the humor is divined from relationships and witticisms, and not primarily from physical shenanigans. Don't get me wrong - I do love the pratfalls and schtick in shows like Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served?, Fawlty Towers, Coupling, etc. But there is definitely something unique in these gentle living-room comedies.

Any suggestions for similar Brit comedy gems I may have missed along the way? Thanks!

Butterflies..To the Manor Born...and especially Mulberry

I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.

That's My Boy with Molly Sugden, and To The Manor Born with Penelope Keith and Two Up, Three Down with Angela Thorne.

Two's Company is wearing its age well. Two great star turns and some great situations. I think it is slightly better than To The Manor Born which is starting to look a little dated. What about Never The Twain, which had Donald Sinden in an antique dealer comedy opposite Windsor Davies?

Definately Butterflies, really exquisite and classy. I came to this site as I just spotted Elaine Stritch playing Alec Baldwin's mum in 30 Rock. I hadn't seen her since she was in this when I was a kid.

She's now 88 what and still going, what a game girl.
