comparison to the walking dead

I love both these shows, but watching survivors again, I can't help wishing they had something more to be worried about, such as flesh eating zombies,or horrible insect like alien creatures like in falling skies. watching greg make methane out of a plastic bag and cow manure just isn't quite as exciting

It's like well, that's great, you learned how to make soap and you got into a really intense argument with a 78 year old sick old man who hasn't brushed his teeth in 23 years and refuses to take a bath. oh and maybe there is a scene where you shoot a rabit or something. I keep kinda thinking, where are the zombies?

All in fun all in fun I absolutely love this show and wouldn't hardly change a thing.

hey fred!

i'm watching it for the second time around too , just starting series 2.
i do remember it goes a bit flat, but you know , zombies arnt the answer to everything :)
bummer that walking dead has just finished until s3 tho.

Some series i like to keep , er, realistic you know , theres plenty of non supernaturl plotlines they could've explored . wandering maruaders , struggle for power etc, and mostof these they did do . maybe they couldve done a war / feud between the next settlement .

Ha! I was looking for a summ it up line and i just looked up and saw yours - ditto

wow, that is weird, I just finished re watching the first series just last night, and am getting the second series from netflix tomorrow. I read somewhere that the actor that plays greg said he was dissapointed that the second season didn't contain more action. but I liked the whole series really, it was just different.

what do you mean by looking for a summ it up line?

Yes you are right exactly about realism in this. I was sort of joking about the lack of zombies or aliens etc. I love that if it's done well, as it is in the walking dead and falling skies but I prefer realism and they could have done so much in a series like this about what it would be like to have to survive in a future without electricity, the internet and taco bell

there is far too much in the way of fantasy alien monster stuff out there. I was dissapointed in the new survivors bbc show that is was not as realistic as the original. it seemed too much based on drama, action etc and I actually missed the how do we make soap type thing from the first series. but it was still better than most junk on tv

I liked the last episode of the first season where they had to go after the guys that stole the fuel tanker. I love the fact that they solve stuff by just sort of shooting at each other with shotguns and dont[ really harm anybody. imagine this scene today. they'd all have huge handguns or AK-47's and be killing each other off in droves. not that I'm against violence per se, I love it in the walking dead for instance but I also enjoy the british more non violent old school type thing too.

we're going at the same pace, i'm up to ep 4 of s2 , although i slowed down a bit because i've been giving "Alcatraz" a try (not sure about it)

I thought with that tanker episode there was a real "I dont want hurt you" vibe going on , which is fair enough, who wants to actually shoot/hurt people? (answer - too many) but once the shooting starts you should do everthing you can.

What was weird was Greg's horror when he realised they might hurt themselves in the tanker they just stole off him cos he hadnt fixed the brakes yet!

I think it would be more bloodthirsty in real life, which is why i'm glad to live in England - theres guns around but no where near as awamped as the US. The US would be much better off in the zombie scenario though :)

by 'summ it up' i meant something like tha last line in your 1st post

god I just re watched the first 8 episodes of the second season. it was like one out of every two were good. and the bad ones are really bad and incredibly boring. they also suddenly introduce new people you've never seen before in almost every episode. who in the hell is Mina? suddenly she's living there with her baby. I find myself falling asleep watching some of these ones.

I agree that some of the episodes were quite boring and the new random characters that turned up made it quite annoying especially when it turns out they are just there for a few episodes until they get killed by some unfortunate means.

I think the main comparison to the walking dead is that the survivors were the real threat. In the walking dead the zombies were more of an inconvenience most of the time except when they were being used as weapons by other survivors. In survivors (apart from series 2 which was more like the good life) it was always a battle against each other. I guess the dogs are a good zombie replacement since they would randomly turn up and attack (and I don't mean those waggy tailed excited doggies from series 1 that were meant to be dangerous but seemed more happy than angry), unless you were Brod who just laughed in their mutty faces.
