What is it that's out of print?

The Bluray and DVD. A new 30th Anniversary megs-pac will cost you about $200. I saw another edition for $500.

They have one for $888....does it come with a kilo of heroin, or what?

I ended up picking up my megaset at an FYE store. Right on the clearance rack. Cost me $59.99. I remembered seeing it once before. It disappeared, then I stumbled upon it at another store. I guess they transferred it to the bigger store. Figuring it would sell there.

You gotta get the blu-ray, even though it only includes season one (plus The Metamorph). The clear picture and the extras are great.

Series on is available too as reasonable cost - you just need to check your Blue-ray player can take region 2

Whoa-that's pretty steep. I'd better lock away my DVD set then as it's some sort of valuable artifact lol!

Any chance for a reissue? With the declining state of physical media, I'd wager this was 1999's lone appearance on blu-ray... Bummer: I could never get into streaming.

Fortunately I bought the boxed sets of 1999 and UFO some time ago. But I would never stream things like that, especially if I had to pay for it, since the stream provider may at some point not be able to offer it any more. So only a download would suffice for me.

Fortunately there are places to download just about everything these days, including Amazon and iTunes, either for a one-time purchase, or a monthly membership, or even for free in some cases.

That's probably also part of why things don't even come out on DVD or Blu-Ray so much any more, but I'm convinced THEY started it. It's their reluctance to bring things out for sale on real media, that leads people to look for other ways of getting it. That's also why all-region/region-free DVD players exist.

The UK Network Complete Series One Blu-ray set is still available (and Series Two is available for pre-order!). It has the exact same restoration (because it was done by/for Network) and has two extra 'extras'.

US fans concerned about player compatibility, read this :-

"The Region A set loses a couple of extra features that are included on Network's release (the footage from 'Horizon', the PDFs and the Lyon's Maid advert). (The Network release is promoted as being encoded for playback on region 'B' players only, but has been confirmed as region free.)"

As others have noted, while the American edition of season one has long been out of print, the UK edition (both DVD and Blu-ray) is still available from networkonair.com. There it is currently selling for around $33-36 US dollars (depending if you get the DVDs or the blu-rays) plus shipping.

The blu-rays are region free, so they should play in any player. However, keep in mind that the blu-ray set contains two DVDs of bonus materials, and these two DVDs are Region 2 locked. So if you want to view them you'll need a multi-region player that will play DVDs from any part of the world (even though the high-definition episodes themselves, on the blu-ray discs, will play on any player).

If you want the DVD set, those are Region 2 locked, and you'll have to have a multi-region player to view them.

Good news is multi-region players are so inexpensive and easy to get now. Good place to find them online is at 220 Electronics or Bombay Electronics.

Wow..I think I paid $50-100 on ebay 10 or so years ago and haven't finished watching them all yet. Glad to know it was a good investment. I almost sold them off for a loss, but realized it wasn't worth selling for less than $50
