The best theme song ever!

I could listen to the theme song over and over again. The 70's had creative and catchy theme songs. Let me know some other good ones from that time period?

reply

My personal favorite. The theme from Shaft.

reply

Heck yeah----this was one of the best theme songs for a TV show ever. The other two great and bad-a** ones being the themes to The Rookies, and The Streets of San Francisco---as well as the one for Police Story. The show is currently on the Decades channel as this weekend's old-school binge show.

reply

If you liked this theme, you may like Black Belt Jones :D.

i wish somebody would support a sequel to season 2 of S.W.A.T.. the first season was released in june of 2003. since then, the remaining 22 episodes of the second and final season has been on hiatus. and that's a damn shame because some of my favoirte episodes that surpass season 1 were in those outstanding unreleased episodes.

i did everything i humanly possibly could to motivate sony to do what is lacking, but no luck. if anybody out there gets this memo and hopefully has connections to sony, please help us S.W.A.T. fans get the rest of the episodes to make our full series on DVD complete.

there's got to be something somebody somewhere somehow can do to make sony give us what we want.

help us S.W.A.T. fans in distress. support a season 2 of S.W.A.T. release.

I believe that the original record had a funny titled B side . Can you recall what it was?

reply

I was five years old when that show came out and I remember playing the 45 record I had of it all the time until it broke.

reply

LMAO! I did the same, only I was around seven. I vividly remember walking around the mall after I bought the 45 with my Dad, and I couldn't wait to get home and fire up the turntable.

You can listen to the score here: http://www.slackerup.com/TVThemes/index.html

Loved that theme! I listened to it over and over. Another big favorite of mine is the Hawaii-Five O theme.

it was a funky little number and i think it was called something like:

"I wouldn't treat a dog the way you treated me"

That's it Thread Killer. You can catch a great version of the theme (even better than the show's version I think) on the Rhythm Heritage album Discofied. They did a version of Baretta's theme (Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow) and a great song called Caravan on that same album.

As far as I can tell that album still isn't available on CD but you can find many copies of the LP record on Amazon.com and Ebay.

mine is (1)Mission Impossible (2)Hawaii five O ( the first one with late Actor Jack Lord) and (3) SWAT. then M*A*S*H and a 1960's series Combat.

There are too many great themes to list here, but SWAT and Hawaii Five-o are ones you never fast forward thru. I just bought both seasons of SWAT and this show is awesome. It's one of the best things I ever bought that I had never seen before. Aaron Spelling, Glen A. Larson, Quinn Martin & Stephen J. Cannell made the majority of the best shows of the 70's and 80's. There are probably 30 great shows they all made during that time.
