Extended Hospital Stays???

It just amazes me how they milk any type of illness or injury. Really - Mary had a fever/flu and is in the hospital for weeks? Even Faith's medical condition is not very believable - she laid in the bed when Kenneth had her shivering and babbling for days and all this medical treatment for a concussion? What's Renie's condition - her legs are numb?? What are the odds that a healthy, young man like Frank would almost die from falling down the stairs? Not to mention how long he was in the hospital on breathing machines and then in a wheelchair? I have to remind myself that I'm watching a soap and reality may not be a strong point of the story lines!!!
