Reality

As I reported here last year via my source, the King of Kensington season one DVD set will be made available. The only error my source made was the date; he was off by a year. Morningstar has made it clear to me that future DVD releases beyond season one will depend entirely on the success of season one sales.

First of all, we are talking about a CANADIAN series here, one that probably got very little if not zero air play in the US. DVD's main market is the US. The set may sell well in Canada, and I'll say that it probably will. Despite, however, the set being sold at chapters.ca and amazon.ca where international customers can buy it, the customers will be Canadian. A high percentage of Canadian DVD watchers buying it isn't enough to ensure other seasons will be sold.

The set needs to be popular worldwide, and I just don't see that. I am the biggest King of Kensington fan out there, but I just have a suspicion that CBC/Morningstar will place more importance to how the DVD set does worldwide, and not only in Canada. If that does indeed prove to be true, we can kiss goodbye any chance of seeing more seasons on DVD.
