New to the series

I've recently started watching Barney Miller on Antenna TV and love it. I was a toddler when the show began and didn't pay a lot of attention to it as i got older. Now i'm really enjoying viewing it from the beginning.

I started watching it in the early 80s, shortly after it was cancelled. It was part of a pair of rerun sitcoms that would run in the local station before the Tonight Show would come on.

I enjoyed it for its atypical approach to comedy(at least from my perception as a teenage mind) and its less than grandiose view of New York City. And of course the theme was catchy.

FYI the show was not CANCELLED. The producer decided to end the series when they could not get quality writers anymore.

I loved the show on 1st run network. I still loved it in syndication re-runs. Then I hadn't seen in over 20 years and saw on my DVD club that if you buy 2 DVD you can get 1 free. I bought the 1st 3 seasons and I was still loved the show. So I kept buying every season after and now I have the complete series on DVD. And I've come to this conclusion, it was and still the best sitcom ever on tv.
