It says he's a New York cop, but the show is set in California.
It was only filmed in the LA area, Baretta travels by plane to LA in one episode.

Yeah, just watched that episode yesterday. Meg Foster was in it. Love those eyes! But, still, the show IS set in California, like I said. Never said L.A. Think it's supposed to be San Francisco. Every car has California plates.
