TARKOVSKY AND HIS VOTES

Without any other coments, I would like to present you this statistics about votes, taken from IMDB, Zerkalo`s page.
Females under 18 voted 1.0
Females aged 18-29 voted 5.8
Females aged 30-44 voted 7.0
Females aged 45+ voted 7.8

So females under 18 and females aged 18-29 voted 1.0-5.8, while females aged 45+ voted 7.8. Do you think that this accidentally discovered statistics demonstrates in a way that Tarkowsky was right? How would you comment Zerkalo`s ending taking account on this movie statistics? What do you think about ratings increase as the woman gets older and older? Zerkalo`s nothing but a mother-child conflict, even if we talk about country and it`s citizens, the young mother-the little child, the older mother-the adult child, the young mother-the adult child, the older mother-the young child, the young child-the adult child, and finally...the young mother-the older 7.8 mother who releases the child, while the 1.0 mother is desperatly watching after him. The child lives between 1.0 and 7.8, and his mother is between 18 and 45.

I really think your post is quite interesting. And I think you got a point saying that you need to have the knowledge and experience of life. That's probably why so many females under 18 didn't understand the movie. That's actually always the problem with a Tarkovsky movie..

Although this is certainly a film that many younger viewers are likely to not fully appreciate, I think its only fair to point out that it wasn't 'so many' females under 18 who didn't get it at IMDB - only 1.

I think that this film is essentially from a male point of view and a film dealing with mothers. Take it from Freud, this is a very messy subject. The love-hate thing that men have with their mothers goes pretty deep. Maybe this is an answer to the reason why young women don't like the film: they're not mothers.

Females under 18 - 9.4
Females aged 18-29 - 6.9
Females aged 30-44 - 8.4
Females aged 45+ - 8.5

Females under 18 have now the biggest rating, although, there's too few votes.

Hmmm. Why don't women watch this movie in general. Most of the votes are male!
