who are these top 1000 voters? i heard their rating is most important in imdb rating system... But it seems they are as stupid as Lord of the rings demons!!! 6.7?To Mirror?the worst thing ive ever seen on imdb!!!
If I had to vote right now i'd probably give it a 5 or 6 because I don't understand the film....yet. I've only seen it once and I obviously need to get my head round structuring my experience before I give it a score.
Even without feeling like I understand the film, there are some absolutely incredible scenes.
Sometimes my vote matches that of Top 1000 reviewers; sometimes it doesn't. That's it. Theirs doesn't have any more credibility in my eyes than the normal average vote.
yes, I also didn't really understand this film properly, it is beautiful but my mind wandered a lot and by the end I was lost. Perhaps I will watch it again. I really enjoyed Stalker, Ivan's Childhood and Andrei Rublev but I found Mirror tough going. I think complexity increases the chance of failure, hence the rating.
I agree entirely, I gave it a 9, and even then I felt it could go to a 10 on another occasion. It is absolutely beautiful, one of Tarkovsky's most poetic films.
Agreed. Just saw it for the third time, ravished again and again. The section from the wind, the oil lamp falling and the storm blowing the sheets and the rain out of the trees up to the colour sequence ending with the mirror glowing in coals nas so many absolutely breath taking shots and the film glows. Tarkovsky and the cinematographers use of light, shade, exposure and framing, as well as movement is utterly exquisite.
10+++++. An absolute masterpiece, a work of art. Among my top ten films and surely must be around there for anyone with eyes to see and a mind that is sensitive and open.
