Need to watch again and again

There is something so utterly transfixing about this film. It possesses a hypnotic quality so potent it's easy to fall into the film and become completely immersed in it. It's like stepping into another world or perhaps it's more like seeing the world through the eyes of another human being. Watching it I can feel myself drift to a place where my surroundings fade away and its only myself and the movie.

As the screen faded to black I immediately felt the need to see it again. After buying the DVD and watching it a second I still feel the want to go back and journey again into Tarkovsky's vision. Both times I was left sitting stunned at the end. Afterwards I would drift through the world while my mind struggled to decipher the meaning and beauty of what I had just seen.

The Mirror is like no other film I've ever seen. It's opened my eyes to the true potential of cinema and I eagerly anticipate diving into the rest of Tarkovsky's filmography.

I couldn't agree more. It's a unique film experience and it's an incredibly difficult task to compare it to other movies. It's the closest representation, on film, to being inside the human mind -- the viewing experience genuinely feels like you're recalling lost memories.

Oddly enough, the best analogy I can make is to a time when I experienced a concussion skiing. After the fall, I spent a couple of hours in the lodge re-living my day up to the fall as if I had never seen it before -- it felt like I was remembering something that never happened. The images and sequences Tarkovsky creates in this film are similar.

I just finished watching this and enjoyed it. I can see myself watching it again.
