Gene Wilder's best role and performance

He was a dynamo in most of his work.

Not to take away from Wonka, Bloom, and The Waco Kid, but Dr. Frederick Frankenstein is I think his greatest role and performance.

"Sedagive!?"

"This is a good boy."

"It! Could! Work!"

"Give my creation LIIIIFE!"

reply

personally i like him best as the waco kid, but he's good in this too.

reply

Yes,it was. Blazing Saddles was another great comedy, but actually as the Waco Kid, that was his most subdued role.

The Producers remains my favorite comedy ever.

I've been having a Gene Wilder Marathon over the weekend and I'm surprised at how much is funnier than I remembered.

"Where you headed?"
"Nowhere special."
"Nowhere special. Always wanted to go there."

Love Gene Wilder in everything he's in. Such a gifted actor, there's no one like him.

My favorite of his performances is George Caldwell from Silver Streak. Very underrated. He does sort of a comedic Cary Grant, and does it to perfection.

reply

Silver Streak, the first Wilder/Pryor pairing, is a good action/comedy. I think it not all that well-known.

reply

... I think his greatest role and performance.
I believe he claimed it as such, himself. It ticks all the boxes for classic Wilder.🐭

I agree.

What knockers!

Thank you, Herr Doktor!
