Funniest scene opinion

I crack up EVERY time I see the scene where Gene (Frankstein) tells Igor, Inga, and Frau that he must convince the monster he is loved. He says 'I will convince him, even if it costs me my own life. No matter what you hear, do NOT open this door.

The second he gets in the monster moves and groans and Gene jumps in fear, runs back to the door (within seconds of walking in) and says 'Get me out... Get ME the hell out. Open the door. I WAS JOKING!'

Love this scene so much.

Anyone else have a favorite scene?

Confound your lousy toll.. TROLL!

Same here. The scene with Igor biting Elizabeth's coat was also comedy gold.

Go ahead! Make my millenium!

This film is filled with one great scene after another. If I was pressed to pick one I would pick the scene when the Monster visits the blind hermit. Gene Hackman is so good in this scene. "Say you must have been the biggest one in your class."

reply

Great choice! Very funny. 'Wait... I was gonna make expresso...'

Agreed... I'd even go as far as saying that this scene, for me, is probably the funniest in movie history!

And I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Gene Hackman could do such great comedy.

Fire is good! Fire is our friend!

reply

I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that Gene Hackman ad-libbed the 'espresso' line. Not only can he do great comedy, but he came up with one of the funniest lines in the movie.

In a movie filled with great scenes and moments, this is probably my favorite scene. My single favorite moment is the look on Peter Boyle's face after the toast. That "why me, lord?" look cracks me up every time.

As that great philosopher Bugs Bunny said, "Something tells me I shoulda stood in bed."

reply

That was good. But, even funnier was right after when the Monster gets his thumb set on fire when the hermit is trying to light the cigar. The Monster just looks at it calmly for a second then realizes what's happening, screams and blows out the flame.

That made the whole scene funny was the Monster was the perfect "straight" man to Hackman's character.

My favorite scene:

What knockers!

Thank you, Herr Doktor.

And Terri Garr's knockers were luscious.

reply

Igor was the key. His every mannerism cracks me up.

I absolutely love at the end when Inspector Kemp shakes hands with the Monster, and his arm pops off.

"And now, let us all go to my house for a little sponge cake unt a little wine..

(arm pops off)

unt... SH*T"

No idea why, but that part makes me laugh harder than anything else in the world.

reply

For some reason the first time I saw it I could not stop laughing for some time at the whole werewolf/where wolf scene, found it hilarious. And when wilder jabs his own leg with the knife, quietly dismissing the class.

reply

During the dance routine, every time the Monster says "putting on the Ritz" I get hysterical!!!

reply

I love the book case scene that's my favorite when he tries to block with his body. Now listen to me very carefully..... Funny stuff

reply

I love that scene, too! Gene's expression when he gets stuck between the bookcase (especially when it first happens. He looks as though he's thinking, "Okay, that definitely wasn't one of my better ideas!") and the wall and his voice.....Really, I'm surprised my pants stay dry during that scene! Incidentally, I wonder how many takes it took before both Gene and Teri (Garr, who played Inga) could get through the scene without laughing?! ;)

reply

1. "Seta-GIVE?!!"

2. Inspector Kemp's entrance. Slap, slap, light cigar slap slap, put finger out.

3. "PUUUTTINNNOOOONDARIZZZZZZZZ!!!"

When frau Blucher asks if the would like brandy, tea or ovaltine. Her winces are hilariously genius!

reply

Frau Blucher "..stay close to the (unlit) candles, the stairway is treacherous..." every time she speaks, her accent cracks me up

reply

Personally my favorite moment is when we are first introduced to Inga in the back of the wagon...

"Roll, roll, roll in zee hay! Would you like to roll in zee hay with me? It is fun!"

She's so corny and cute at the same time, it's hysterical. Cracks me up every time... LMAO

"Footshteps, footshteps, footshteps!" Don't know why but I LOVE that part. And totally agree with the bookcase, ovaltine and "Roll, roll, roll in ze hay!"
