Songs

I grew up with this movie and I think it is good, even though I have yet to read the book. I love the songs on this movie, particularly "In the Morning of My Life" and "If I Could Only Go Back Again." However, I am unable to find the lyrics anywhere on the web and I was wondering if anyone knew the exact lyrics or if it were possible to get them somewhere. I tried every search factors I could think of.

I rented the 1974 version on video tape.
I agree the songs are great!

In an interlude, where Billy Coleman walks all the way from home to Tehlequah to pick up his new puppies, the background music is Andy Williams singing a couple of verses of an unnamed song.

I wrote down the lyrics.
***************************
Where the wild winds play
Leisurely through the clouds

I hear the sounds of love.

Where the sun breaks down
Over the hill and sky

I hear the sounds of love.

When flowers fell
When the summer rained
When the seasons end

There must be love.
***************************
(The song ends when Billy arrives at the edge of town.)

In one interlude, where the daughters are holding the leashes of the dogs, just as Billy Coleman is to begin training the two puppies to track the scent of his raccoon tail dragged across the ground, Andy Williams sings a few verses of some unnamed song.

I wrote down the lyrics.

***********************
If life could only go back again
To the places where I had been
Feeling love as we did then
If I could only go back.

Crystal waters against the day
Golden rainbows which washed away
Lonely clouds that can only say
If I could only go back.

To live in your arms again
To love as we did then
To love free as the wind
***********************

The closing credits have Andy Williams singing another uncredited song.
I transcribed the lyrics by ear.

******************************
Gone away.
Couldn't stay.
Didn't say where she was going.

Said, "Goodbye."
Tell me, Lord, why did she cry?

Close your eyes.
Make me realize
And all the time I thought she was happy.
Must she go?
Still there's so
Much that I owe.

Gone away.
Couldn't stay.
She's gone and now's the time that I'm needing her.

A thousand tears,
A thousand years,
Won't bring her home.
She's gone away.
******************************

Thanks gebegb for confirming it was Andy Williams singing... I knew that had to be him, and it was driving me nuts that I couldn't find a credit to the singer anywhere!
