GREAT movie, but disturbed me when I was a kid because of this one scene

The part where the bully gets accidentally tripped and falls on the ax. It disturbed me especially because I was about the boy's age when I saw the movie, and I was already scarred for life when it comes to kids dying in movies because of the movie "Jaws".

Anybody else disturbed by this? I mean, it was such a great movie, and aside from that part, an iconic movie in my childhood.

I was also confused about how he died, but I assumed the ax was involved — and I shed no tears because he was, after all, a bully.

I'm glad they made it the way it was in the book. I would have been disappointed if they had changed it. I first read it in fifth grade. I was a bit surprised then.

I read it when I stumbled across it High School. I had a bit of a hard time when the kid fell on his ax in the book, but was ready for it when I saw the movie. Yes the kid was a bully, and sad to say, he did get his comeuppance. The story was very moving to me and I cried in a few spots as I read it. Because the book was such a engaging story it stayed with me - I loved it (a good author can do that). When I saw there was a movie, I rented it. I bought the book for my sons and we watched the movie together. Both my sons loved the movie, although only my younger son read the book - my older son wasn't a big reader. My youngest son loved the book as well. I wish that there were more stories like this one. Kudos Wilson Rawls!

I thought I was the only one that was darn near traumatized to see the kid die so horrifically in "Jaws"! In this movie it was also disturbing, but the bully was trying to kill him. Still sad that it had to end that way, but there was slim chance Billy was going to survive, I think, if those two go on unimpeded.
