but is this the movie where the father bathes in a tin tub? I just saw previews over the weekend on THIS network, but missed the movie. I remember watching something similiar in school and the clips they showed looked familiar.

If memory serves, it's neighbor Harry Dean Stanton/Keiser Pease that the kids give an onion bath or some such to cure him... if memory serves.

The actual Dad dies early on in the film, so I think it's Stanton.
