i wanted more!
I just seen the movie today on scream tv and was really drawn to the story and characters and next thing I knew the movie was over! I think this could have been 7 hour mini series like stephen king's The Stand.
shareI wanted more too! My only complaint regarding this film was that it was too short! I agree it easily could have been made into a mini-series, expanded with more frightening adventures the family encounters on their way home or something. Maybe like battling an underground gang in LA, for example.

I think "Night of the Comet" probably owes something to this movie. But I thought this movie was definately more realistic and believable. It makes you think, "this could really happen". Glad its finally getting some well deserved air time after all these years.
shareI just watched this movie and am left wondering whether the producers had hoped to make a tv series out of it. In the U.K. around this time, there was a series called "The Survivors" which was along the same line as this. But it dealt more with the ramifications of what a global pandemic would have on the people left. Still it was brilliantly done. A tv series based on WHATPG would have added more of an American take on it.

Also the reason for it being short is it was probably a tv movie/pilot that was broadcast to see the potential as a series. There is a great movie called The Gifted One that I have a feeling was a pilot as well.
