FRAUD! Austin Stoker PHOTOSHOPPED Into Original Poster on DVD Release!

To deceptively make it seem like Austin Stoker, not Pat Cardi, was the actual star.

Here is the original theatrical poster. Austin Stoker is nowhere to be seen:

The blurb also states:

"There is something evil out there...Possessed by a force that doesn't belong to this world - and it's going to kill me!

Now here is the Photoshop version:

Now the blurb is altered to state:

"There is something evil out there...Possessed by a force that doesn't belong to this world - and it's going to kill!"

"Kill me" is now changed to simply "kill" which now infers Stoker's character is out to stop a monster, and that he is the main character, which he is not!

The "new" poster now adds the name "Austin Stoker" over the title, and underneath the title blurb (in all capital letters) "THE MAN WHO SURVIVED PRECINCT 13 IS BACK !"

It's sleazy that they are attempting to fool people into thinking it's an Austin Stoker film, where all he has is a supporting role!

Very deceptive and bad business!

I would just like to see Code Red actually make a small profit on a title for once. They are not perfect, but at least they are finally bringing an uncut version of this film to market. I can't believe that Crown has been sitting on complete elements for this film all this time and FOR DECADES various companies kept releasing the TV version. They could put a picture of Benji on the cover with a big blurb about "music by Euel Box!" and I wouldn't care as long as the movie looks good and is complete.

reply

Also (just to run this into the ground) while I'd generally rather look at a girl in a bra, which is what Mr. Stoker's mug replaced on the cover, I gotta point out that the gal was not even in the movie. So this cover is actually LESS deceptive than Crown's original version.

So this cover is actually LESS deceptive than Crown's original version.

No it's not! It showed a random girl terrorized, and that happens in the film even if it's not that girl and her jugs are not prominent.

This cover implies that the film has a totally different plot with Austin Stoker as it's hero pursuing the monster!

They even change the tagline to help with the deception.

They infer that Stoker, whose part is relatively secondary is the actual star, so it's a lot different and much MORE deceptive marshall!

And Marshall banboozling customers and being dishonest is probably not going to help them win customers.

First they misrepresent that they have the rights to 'The Farmer' and people feel duped, now they are pretending that 'Twisted Brain' aka 'Horror High' is an entirely different film.

reply

I think THEY probably thought they had the rights to THE FARMER. For all I know they do and something else is holding it up. Lately CR has learned from their mistakes and are not telegraphing their releases and disappointing fans. Instead the stuff just shows up on Amazon for pre-order two months before it comes out, and they have stopped blowing street dates (which allegedly was Media Blasters fault anyway.) Besides the disc has an extra 20 minutes of Austin Stoker! I have never seen an interview with him up 'til now.

People sure like to poop on Code Red, but they have done justice to some obscure favorites (of mine) like SOLE SURVIVOR and THE DEAD PIT. The company is losing money and is a labor of love. For people who have waited decades for an uncut HORROR HIGH, the disc is a godsend. There is room for improvement and maybe some day the legendary Pat Cardi version will be released. That will be my fourth home video purchase of this title.

i like code red but sometimes it takes awhile before they released dvds i think all the hatred came from the constant delays of certain titles like nightmare maker butcher baker and especially nightmare 1981 which a few weeks back code red finally made the right decision to release with what extras they have

another title i remember seeing/reading about in rue morgue was rituals was supposed to be out last nov but apparently some idiot envolved with the film stopped the release i heard

reply

I just added the taglines from the Code Red DVD. Sure, it's totally bogus and misleading, but that's exploitation, baby!

1,000 mini-bios and I feel like I'm just getting started

Like this is the first company to do this. Look at the re releases of the original Little Shop Of Horrors making it look like Jack Nicholson is the star when he's only in the film for 5 minutes. Or Troma re releasing older films and making now big name stars look like they're the main stars(like Kevin Costner in Sizzle Beach USA)

Or the countless times Euro horror of the 70's was re released as sequels to popular American horror films.

These tactics have been around for decades.

And Code Red is releasing films that no one else is or in the case of Horror High, releasing a film properly and not some crappy TV edit.

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.

What's your point? Who gives a **** if this is the first company to do it! It's still deceptive.
