"In every dimension , there's another YOU!"

reply

Carlos was crushed by the falling statue!

reply

Laurie was threatened with being burnt alive and then swan dived to her excruciating death...

reply

Bob the Mayor fell off something - didn't quite see where he landed

reply

Paul Newman died in the alternate ending.

reply

Agreed, I have the copy myself. It’s a great death also

reply

No he didn't!

reply

Yes he did, I have the Bluray 40th anniversary special

reply

My god you talk a lot of *beep* There is no 40th Anniversary Bluray and there is no alternate ending. Never has been. TROLL!

reply

WuT do0 yU meEn.,;?

reply

I believe he is calling you a liar, which seems to be an accurate assumption based on your claims. Troll, jacka$$, big-mouth, and jerk might also equally apply.

Murdoch: Climb, baby, climb!

reply

I have the copy, he did die.

reply

Oh man, totally.

I've been petrified of scenic elevators since seeing this as a kid.

The hopeless way in which Fred Astaire is calling her name at the end before being handed her cat just adds to the PTSD.

reply

I saw an elevator like this recently and this exact scene came to mind.

reply

This scene really upset me as a kid. Seeing Jennifer Jones fall out of the elevator and then watch her body fall while she screams. Then she hits the building and the screams stop. This was the part of the movie that I could never get out of my mind.

reply

It was a clever move in a way, made sure nobody would ever forget it. Same with Shelley Winters' death in The Poseidon Adventure.

Irwin Allen - scarring children the world over.

reply

Wow, yeah Shelley Winters' death in The Poseidon Adventure was also one I just didn't care for. I think that it had to do with the fact that both characters were really likable, which made their deaths more upsetting.

reply

Seemed to happen a lot in those flicks - the nice older woman would die, leaving behind a traumatized husband/partner - remember it too in the crummy Poseidon sequel, that Paul Newman one with the volcano on the island, and even Daylight with Stallone.

Heartstring tugging.

reply

I remember in the Poseidon Adventure the traumatized husband was grandpa Joe from Willie Wonka!!

reply

I absolutely HATE that scene. It's the only death in the entire Irwin Allen oeuvre that felt mean-spirited and gratuitous to me.

reply

Not only did she fall out of the elevator, but she screamed all the way down until hitting the side of the building. Jennifer Jones was so beautiful and had such an ugly death here. I saw this in the theaters when I was 11 and that scene stuck with me for a long time. This scene still bothers me.
