Soundtrack question

Did Michel Legrand write the whole score?
I ask since the music playing when our heroes set off to deliver the letter to the Duke of Buckingham, before getting picked off one by one, sounds a lot like a piece of Verdi I have heard. I have no further details, but perhaps one of you musicologists out there could enlighten me

That part may have been incorporated into the music. Last I checked he did write the whole score, but it's possible he could've borrowed from some well known historical composures.

The "riding theme" in the soundtrack was based on music from Act II of Verdi's opera Aida.
