RIP Chuck Heston. This is one of my favorite films of his.

I thought he was superb as Richleau.
shareCharlton Heston was fabulous as Richelieu! And if you watch interviews with him included in The Three and Four Musketeers DVD, you'll find he enjoyed the playing the role and, several decades later, was still laughing about certain aspects of the role and production.
