Tonight Show Promo Clip

Jack Haley Jr. guested on The Tonight Show to promote the original release, and brought along a studio clip showing the filming of a huge dance production number. The production camera dollies forward to follow the action and about a thousand stagehands appear to move sections of the stage aside to allow the camera to move through.

I was disappointed that this fascinating clip never made it into the released film, and have been looking for info on it ever since. Can anyone enlighten me?

It sounds like a sequence that *was* put into "That's Entertainment III" (some 20 years later) of the breakdown of the Eleanor Powell "Fascinating Rhythm" number. They do a split-screen effect with the finished number on one side, and the removing of the pieces of platform to let the camera truck through (in one unbroken shot) on the other. Awesome sequence. Hope that helps.
