I get that you're terrified, but must you scream constantly?

The whole second half of the film is just Sally screaming. It's a little much. Just sayin'.

She was probably going nuts at that point.

It's called hysteria. Look it up.

Not screaming would have increased her chance of not being caught and surviving as even if she pulled out ahead of Leatherface, he could still hear her.

Leatherface could see her. Depending on his vision, and had she wore dark clothes, she might have been able to hide if she kept quiet. But Leatherface kept close, so Sally shutting her mouth wouldn't have help none. He could still see her.

In a situation like that, drawing somebody's attention, anybody's attention outweighs the benefits of stealth. Despite what you may think, it is hard to hide from somebody, even at night.

Human beings are very easy to detect. Go out at night sometime, away from anything, and try to move around without being able to hear yourself move. It can't be done. You can't move, much less move fast enough to gain any ground. Even if not screaming, Leatherface could hear every move she made if he was quiet enough (provided he shut off his chainsaw).

You can't hide from somebody determined to find you. Screaming your lungs out at least gives you a chance of getting somebody else involved which may end the threat. It was to her benefit to scream as much and as loud as possible. Those of you with kids, tell them that if a stranger tries to take them, SCREAM!!! Scream as loud and as long as possible. Don't tell them to be quiet and try to hide. Getting somebody's attention will give them the best chance.

She wasn't in the average "omg it scared me" situation. Jesus Christ, she was on hysteria.

I found Sally's reaction to the situation in which she was suddenly confronted and thrust into to be a pretty damn understandable one. And it made it seem all the more terrifying and realistic to watch. Was she supposed to be like Neve Campbell and all these post 'Scream' heroines who suddenly decide to stand toe to toe with a homicidal villain all while spouting off witty one-liners to them at the same time? Please. Sally was in a state of sheer, utter terror and acted accordingly by running and screaming for her very life. And the majority of us would've responded the exact same way as she did in such a horrifying situation.
