I hate to be "that" guy but people really miss the point


I just finished watching it literally 5 minutes ago and I came here to see some actual discussion. It seems to be a surrealist look at both Capitalism and Communism

The Boat represented the sweet escape of communism(which is why Karl Marx is the figurehead on the boat and why they were singing communist songs) and the other girl represents capitalistic greed which is why she's continually exploited by society.

In the end Capitalism is driven to such an extent that people sit in a state of perpetual gluttony (the dinner scene). Likewise in the end of Communism the sweetness the revolutionaries dreamed of turns out to be a false hope (its certainly no accident that the boys hat says Potemkin. A reference to the famous Russian rebellion that also ended in bloodshed.) and the idea they clung to invariably kills them
