They should warn people, kids get molested in this(spoilers)

Yeah, I mean I had heard there's a lot dealing with piss and *beep* but to have to sit through a scene where a group of boys get, in so many words, a lap dance. It was sick and really uncomfertable, one of the disturbing aspects of the scene is the kids look really uncomfertable.

reply

If you look closely most of that scene was edited to make it look much worse than it was.

reply

lol screw that.. she basically stepped right over the kid and put her vag in his face..
the scene was sick.. and really pointless.. there is nothing philosophical or symbolic about the scene.. it was just there to shock..
as were the commune scenes..

reply

Brilliant scene, filmed by a director with some guts. The scene I guess showed the corruption of youth and had to be filmed in a realistic way.

reply

Not pointless at all.

The woman is a communist who travels the canals on a boat loaded with candy and sugar to attract the youngsters in various ports. She lures them with candy and sex, then murders them.

This is metaphorical for the communist party corrupting the young and innocent with promises for a sweet future, then being the death of them.

reply

nice view filmscholar35 . I am bored of people who are shocked everytime in the name of the children. These are the same people who leave children exposed to TV commercials and other brainwashing methods that create loyal consumers.
Actually i d love to be seduced in the real life by an older pretty lady. The kids were really young but how many of their age witness secretly hardcore porn? A lap dance wont hurt them.

"Brilliant scene, filmed by a director with some guts. The scene I guess showed the corruption of youth and had to be filmed in a realistic way."

I completely agree.

reply

If that was a man with girls, the director and actor would be imprisoned, or shot.

Only those with no valid argument pick holes in people's spelling and grammar.

I'll admit much of this film was hard to take, but the scene with Anna Planeta and the boys was the high point of the movie, really masterfully done, and even beautiful. Makavjev captured something real and primal there.

It's really no more exploitative of kids than Pretty Baby was exploitative of Brooke Shields.

There, daddy, do I get a gold star?

reply

presumably the boys in the film are men in their 50s - someone could ask them what they thought of it and if they feel they were exploited in any way.

You have a great idea for a film there. No, seriously, the scene is also important because it shows (pretty obviously) why women and men aren't equal and you got the gist.

It's some sort of a didactic masterpiece. Ah, poor kids of today, they already know evrything from the internet.

reply

Honestly, if you think that those kids were being molested you really need to relax.

reply

Normally I'd be on the other side of the fence, but these are young children with no approximation of informed consent, and an adult woman is unzipping their pants, rubbing their unclothed stomachs and gyrating a partially exposed hoo-hoo in their faces. Don't get me wrong --- I'm not crying for censorship or disallowing "Sweet Movie" as legitimate expression, but....... I'd argue it's waaay into "Cannibal Holocaust" territory, pushing so hard that it arguably becomes as condemnable as what it condemns.

You should watch "A Serbian Film"!

reply

Yeah I found this to be really unpleasant and very challenging, uncomfortable viewing.

And yeah I get it, it was supposed to be. But that doesn't excuse it.

As someone has already pointed out, if it was a man performing that scene with with children of either sex then I doubt there would be very many people defending it and casually brushing it off. Also you should question whether anyone would attempt or even get away with filming something like that today.

The low point of a tedious *beep* film.

reply

war is near to justify that scene. at the same time the scene challenges our bigoted views, I mean come on it's a female body!
it could be their mother too agewise and most importantly the situation is safe (or so it seems).

a penis is a sword, a vagina an abyss - which you fear more is the question? which interests you more? for me it's obviously the abyss - I happen to have said sword with me like a Swiss army knife *pooops*

comparing this to the horrors of actual molestation or even rape, the aforementioned consisting of long time psychological torture in isolated social situations - you might see where I'm going there - is the real intellectual molestation.

Still, you don't have to be a schmock and go to war to get killed if you thought otherwise. I was just saying.

reply

There was no actual molestation shown, however there was some implied at the end.

Applied Science? All science is applied. Eventually.

reply

or they just cuddle or something. it's not necessarily molestation even if more happens than her absurd behaviour while being naked. still, we can agree that it's not something that can go by unattended, it's just too primal for that ; )
was any violence or psychological pressure implicated in the scene? surely not.

but maybe in real life there was and that's the problem here. but look what Chodorovski's (I'm not even trying to spell it right) son looks like in that "Jodorovsky's Dune" documentary. He reminds me of myself, my mother being an artist. Just --- yeah.

the world and its people will molest you a little bit anyway, but I've never been violated which I think is a happy coincidence, because it leaves me so much freedom of thought and no compulsive urges dangerous to others. Still, I'll surely *beep* get killed living my life so much I can promise.

happy watching
