Baby Langston left alone!

I refer to the scene early in the movie. The first time we see Langston he is sitting on the front lawn, near the road, next to a big dog. How negligent of his foster mother. Who leaves a two-year old alone like that? The whole thing struck me as odd.

Anyway, I just saw this movie for the first time. Well done.

It was the '70s! We rode around in the back of station wagons without seatbelts! Rode bikes without helmets!

Exactly, and you even see some similar scenes of kids doing these things in the movie. Perhaps it could be considered a little negligent based on todays pc standards; but the dog was also outside with the kid.

My guess that was a subliminal attempt to give empathy to the real parents (they needed a lot) but it implies that the baby is just another pet to the new parents.

No. It wasn't unusual for parents to leave their kids outside, in their own front lawn, to play back then. Watch any old episode of Leave It To Beaver to see how things were back then. It's not unusual for June Cleaver to say she has no idea where Beaver and Wally are.

Does it? I think that is just your own reading into the scenario and could be considered a bit pretentious.

Your reading of altpensacola's post is a bit pretentious. Also sophomoric and torture porn.

Do you know what you are even talking about? Your response is inane and torturous to read, not to mention pretentious.
