3 Years Ago?

In the movie they mention a bunch of times that it wouldn't be safe for her to keep the baby because of what happened 3 years ago, but they never explain exactly what did happen. Did she have a miscarriage or stillbirth or other complications that would make her body unsuitable for childbirth again? I'm just a little confused because they allude to it throughout the movie but never really explain it.
