Excellent MUSIC...

In 5th and 6th grade, I had the 8-track to this and WORE IT OUT !
As an adolescent, I enjoyed the movie on the big screen, not realizing how cheesy it was. My uncle attended a LIVE guest appearance at his local cinema where Ringo was promoting the movie, arriving in an old black hearse. Excited that a former "Beatle" was in town.

I wonder why this movie didn't get a wide release...?

[OK, that was lame sarcasm. Obviously the fact the movie got RELEASED in the first place is a tribute to drug use and egomania.]

I vividly remember seeing this movie in the mid 70's at the Bel Air Theater in Bel Air, Maryland - the only theater in town at the time, which was one of those typical small town oprea house theaters that was probably built in the 1920's (and is now, sadly, defunct). The thing about the Bel Air Theater, though, was that it had the most amazing sound system. My good friend worked there as a projectionist, and I would often visit him in the booth with my new albums (yes - vinyl lps), which he would play on the amazing sound system between movies.

Anyway - he told me that I had to come to one of the showings of Son of Dracula. I showed up one week-night, and there were only one or two stoners in the audience. My friend cranked the volume during every song - and it blew me away. So yeah, the storyline was weak, but it was an outstanding cinematic experience, and to this day, I consider Harry Nelsson one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.
