Year of filming?

When exactly was this filmed? Most sources say 1974 but one of Kevin Costner's biographies gives a later date of 1978-79, which I personally think is more likely. A lot of people who worked on this film also worked on Shadows Run Black, another early Costner film that wasn't released until he became a big star.
