L Driver from Kill Bill is very similar to a character in this with an eyepatch, who then gets his other eye taken out.

Actually, even though QT stole quite a lot of Kill Bill from Lady Snowblood I, the character of Elle Driver from KB is inspired by a character from Thriller (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072285/ )

What exactly he stole from Lady Snowblood I., in fact i didn't know he stole anything from this classic.

A better answer may lie in the original Shurayukihime boards but at least QT borrowed:
a) the original theme song
b) the theme of a sword wielding woman on a vengeance
I think Kill Bill will feel much better and even funnier if the viewer has some previous knowledge of the 70's action films made in HK and Japan. For example, the martial arts master that the bride visits in a flashback could be from hundreds HK films of that era.
Also, Tarantino used outrageously funny zooms in that part of the film which were also the HK trademark at the time.
And I do recommend the Thriller film mentioned earlier. Just like Lady Snowblood has HC sword action, it has its own HC action inserts... :-)
