Will you water my rosebud, Joey?

In the extras to this disc there is an interview with female lead Katharine Houghton where she laments the "homoerotic" tone the film took (as opposed to the supposed initial "fairy tale" approach). Too bad.
In my opinion, it is because of such elements that this extremely obscure film would even garner any kind of cult following and/or be remembered at all today. This was 1974, and the hottest Warhol factory male star cast in the male lead, for pete's sake.
How did Ms. Houghton go from the socially conscious, A-List classic drama Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? to the psychotronic, late-night lavender dream of SEEDS OF EVIL? The mind boggles!
