Herbert Lom steals every scene

Peter Sellers was great, as always, but Herbert Lom as the Chief Inspector steals every scene he's in with Clousseau. His cocky attitude that he can't possibly confuse his pistol with his cigarette lighter, bawling out Clousseau, or his giddy repeating "the case is solv-ed" are all priceless.

"Could be worse."
"Howwww?"
"Could be raining."

Peter Sellers was always surrounded by great foils in these movies, and while I think we all watch them to see Sellers as Clouseau, I get as much enjoyment out of Lom as Dreyfus and his nervous twitches and laughter.

"Only one man could pull the wrong tooth!" I'd love to hear how many takes it took them to get THAT bit done in "Strikes Again."

"ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha KILL HIM! Ah hahahahaha"

I also love Dreyfus's scenes with his sergeant, Francois. One so hard-edged with fury, the other so sympathetic yet firm. I suspect the gentlemanly Francois is the only person in the world who can manage Dreyfus without driving him into a rage.

Andre Maranne can express so much in a single word or look. He is brilliant, and I wish he had more scenes in this and the other Pink Panther films.
