why wasn't Frady suspicious after his boss' death?


i mean..... you gotta assume the cover was already blown by that time.
why not just disappear immediately?

i know it's a movie but the Hammond ending was an obvious frame job

It's quite possible Frady didn't know his editor (Bill Rintels) had died. We don't know how much time passed between Frady trekking off to Atlanta for his first assignment and Rintels getting assassinated. By this time, Frady was probably too busy figuring out how to get rid of the Washington cop (who would recognize him) they assigned as his partner and what sort of job he was expected to pull off. Further, since he was in Georgia it's doubtful the local papers would've even picked up the story of Rintels's death.
