Very Underrated

I watched this film on TCM the other night and was really impressed with this film. Terrific performances by Duvall and JD Baker. Great to see the old film noir actors. I was wondering why this film film is not considered on the same level of Bullit or French Connection. The more recent Payback is one of my favorites but I think this film is even better.
