400 Blows

I assume the comparisons are obvious, but in many ways, this story works better. I am not comparing the cinematography or even the impact this film will have on the history of cinema, because clearly it has almost none, but the story alone resonated more. Whereas Truffaut's film was merely metaphor after metaphor, this one had a very clear message and it's one that can easily be attached to any life, not simply that of a child. I think this should be seen before Close-up if possible. I am just happy to have seen both within 24 hours.
