(Spoiler)
In the last scene, Dick van Dyke is sitting under a pier on the beach, with a bottle in his hand. He has no job, and has cut himself off from his family. This powerful image has stayed in my mind all these years.
Interestingly, Dick van Dyke has said that he wanted to make a sequel to this movie, in which the man was "saved", overcame his alcoholism, and got his life back on track. I would have liked to have seen that movie.
He failed to stop drinking not knowing that that was his last chance, he woke up caughing up blood and died then as the song "yesterday" from the beatles played at the end into the credits...it was a very powerful movie!
It should be available to all...

That's an amazing and courageous ending. I highly doubt the networks would air a movie with such a bleak finale these days.
I remember when this movie aired on TV, but I haven't seen it in 36 years. And yes, it should be available to all.
It's been a few decades since I've seen it, but I seem to remember that he was alone, homeless, and sitting by himself, drinking from a bottle that he bought with the last of his money. I would like to see it again, because I remember it being very good.
"My girlfriend sucked 37 d*cks!"
"In a row?"
I'd like to see this again as well. I'll never forget it
