Video Release

I would love to see this movie released on DVD, because it has been such a long time since I ever seen it!

I would also like to see a sequel made to it, where the youngest girl is married and decides to adopt some children like her parents did! They could include an Arabian child, Iraqi Child, Cambodian Child, and perhaps a few more!

thats an interesting concept

but i doubt it will have that same struggle for individuality like the 70's.

I agree, but it would be an interesting conception to dream up! I thought that Ariane Heller was so cute in her portrayal as "Mary" in that film, and that is the reason that I would use her to carry the show on for the next generation. Also I would estimate that Ariane would be approximately at the age of 35, and would be the most logical to have young children, and be adoptings young orphans! Her character really made the movie for me. If this would have been made, I would include a return of the entire cast as grown up and meeting at a Family Reunion. Mary, who would be married to a Widower with 3 children from his previous marriage, will want to have children of her own but will be found as being sterile like her father, so they decide to adopt foreign children to make up for it!

On the other hand, even though Ariane was cute as Young Mary, there is no guarentee what she may look like 25 years later, so it is more likely that the producers would option for a re-make this film instead! If a remake of this movie is made, I can guarentee that there will be a lot of scenes that will either not be included, or changed! For example, the scene where Mary dis-robes in the Bathroom will most likely be excluded in the re-make do the criticism of the Child Exploitation. Only way they would make this scene is to zoom in from the shoulders up, or else keep the camera focased on her back! This was the cutest part of the whole movie and it would be ashame to exclude it.

this film is the shiznit. it really does captures that early-mid 70's thing beautifully. right down to the harmonica in the theme music. being from phoenix, it was a riot to see the suns playing basketball with the old school jerseys in the old school veterans memorial colleseum. the dialogue may be a bit too hokey and afterschool-special for some, but i think its great. ok so its a bit dated, big deal. this was probably one of those movies that didnt stay in the theater too long because evryone would rather go see chinatown or some other bigtime movie deal. with dwayne from whats happening?, mr cunningham from happy days, and the little girl from mary tyler moore, how can you go wrong?

go suns!

I don't know if the DVD will ever be released, but now I would just asssume going straight to Blu-Ray, since that is the format that will eventually replace the DVDs. Imagine the quality of the film!
