Remake?

I notice interest in this film has gone up by 67% that sounds alot to me. Is there a possibility that they would do a remake?
It's such an amazing story - I think they should definitely do one. It's so different to all the other remakes of superheros/monster/violent movies we see at the cinemas - in the same vein as Tom Hanks's 'Castaway' - I think there must be a writer out there who can do it!!!!

Thank you, jcarrie, for expressing your interest in this film. The story is one of my favorites, and I too would like to see it remade by a good writer and cast. I also would love to see the original and a remake on DVD.
