I saw this at the drive in as a kid

It was marketed as a horror film in the newspaper--in fact there was a very misleading picture that looked like a werewolf on it, and that's why we went to go see it. It was on a triple bill with some genuine horror movies. I remembered being thoroughly disappointed as a kid. I bought the DVD that came out not too long ago thinking I would give it another shot. Even with lowered expectations (and an understanding at the outset that it was a crime flick) it still failed to entertain.

I'm not sure if anyone can find this movie "entertaining" because the plot is so twisted. But I think it's definitely one of the best 1970s crime films out there. No masterpiece, but very effective.

A complete masterpiece, one of the best Crime movies I have seen.

I'll agree with the masterpiece part. I'd take this over movies like Jumper any day of the week.

I'd call it entertaining. I like movies where the bad guy is the most sympathetic character... and for a while I thought he was going to actually get away with it!

It's also got a tremendously high bodycount for a "realistic" crime film... almost all at the hands of the main character too. I think he manages to hit the double-digits... and the police still have no real proof!

this movie is so grrrrreat! how can you say it doesen't enttertain? i think it's great for many reasons. i haven't found many crime movies that are so realistic. and morricone's musics are great too

It's a very decent one. Although hadn't it been for Tomas Milian, it'd loose a loooooooooot of impact.

I’m just glad Henry Silva put him down in the end. This dude needed to be taken out!
