The 'novel' is actually a screenplay novelization, based on the original shooting script by Lawrence Roman, not an original or adapted work in and of itself (q.v. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McQ). My paperback copy has a double-sided ad for Kent cigarettes at the beginning of Chapter VI.
