Everyone in my family has always enjoyed this movie, and especially this number, but we've also always agreed that the semi-transparent Santa Claus mask is bizarre. Maybe it is a sign of how jaded contemporary audiences have become, but that mask makes me think serial killer, not jolly old elf. I'm fairly certain it was done to allow for the shooting of the dance without regard to filtering and lighting Lucy's face from every angle, but the same effect could have been had with a simpler hang-on beard and maybe some frosted granny glasses, in my opinion. Still love the movie and the scene, though.
