Interesting film except...


I saw this on DVD today, its one of Russell's best and also most under-stated films (I don't think that's a coincidence either)

It's flawed like all of his films but the only major problem I had with it was Gary Rich's performance as the young Mahler. He acted like a child with learning disabilities who was having a fit.

I know that sounds a cruel thing to say but if you see the film you'll know what I mean.

I just saw the movie. The young Mahler seems very acceptable.

Well I'm not saying we shouldn't accept people with learning disabilities who are prone to fits. So I suppose we agree on this one.
