The movie had a hard edge to it due to the rape & murder of the wife and the child's psychosis. The flashbacks the murderer had while committing those acts is really disturbing. I remember walking out of the theatre in Omaha to the bright sunshine and horrible humidity and feeling sick over what I'd seen.

I didn't see again till they started showing it again lately on the cable. It ain't improved with age.
