How is Sacramento the South?

I just saw it for the first time. It's an okay film, but it's billed as "Southern Gothic" and takes place in Macon County, NC (or is it Georgia?). That's fine, but the film was shot in the friggin' Big Valley of California.

It goes without saying, if you're going to film a Southern Gothic Thriller, shoot it on location in the REAL South, not frickin' dry-ass California.

It makes you think it's probably Georgia because there's a town in Georgia called Macon (which is in Bibb County). I saw this movie during it's first run and if I remember correctly the movie takes place in Louisiana! That sticks with me because I remember thinking, at the time, "Louisiana is the only state in the USA that doesn't have counties." (Louisiana has parishes not counties.)

The only really good think I can say about this movie is that it is only slightly better than the move "Billy Jack."

I guess they should've called it "Macon Parish Line," huh? 

I prefer "Billy Jack" mainly because of the great opening song and profound subtext. My review offers details, if you're interested: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066832/reviews-118
