Shocking naturalism (I have lived like that)

This movie is a shockingly naturalistic depiction of how people lived in Finnish rural communities not so long ago. And not just in Finland but in most Northern European regions. I can easily believe that younger Fins might want to "disown" this movie because of how close it hits to the truth and how much it contrasts with ideal western living standards. The most "painful" detail for me was the packed living conditions in those farm houses. Up to ten people sleeping in the same room regularly, with people going about their business while others are sleeping in beds and on the floor. How could anyone ever get any sleep in those conditions, I now ask, although I have myself lived quite the same way and it seemed perfectly natural back then.
