Want to know what happened to Stanley and Frannie? etc?

In the book:

Frannie didn't end up pregnant afterall, she never was, but Stanley still married her and they never had any kids. Stanley owned a TV repair shop.

-----------

Wimpy was killed when his helicopter was shot down in Vietnam in '66.

-------------

Annie actually did marry the cousin of Stanley's that owned the pizza shop.
The one Frannie promised to set her up with. She's got 4 kids, she's really fat and her hair is still in curlers.

-------------

Butchey went to college and in '63 married a black girl, the daughter of a congressman. Butchey turned out to be a famous architect. They have 2 kids. Nobody calls him Butchey anymore, they call him Martin.

--------------

Jane dropped out of college to marry the captain of the Yale swimming team.
She lived in a classy suburb and wasn't happy with her Wall St. broker husband.
She had no kids, but lots of affairs.
She thinks often of Chico.
-------------

Chico was a high school graduate. He rode his bike to California and 10 years later was the drummer for a famous rock band. After that he went to Berkley and was campus leader. He got caught up in radical politics. Busted in Chicago in '68, Chico masterminded a series of daring daylight bank robberies, the money going to the movement. in '69 he went underground and has not been heard of since. He never thinks of Jane.

Interesting, thanks.

I read the endings in the novel, but didn't car for most of them. Stanley and Frannie's would be the most likely. What do you think?

Is it a novel? Here on Imdb.com it doesn't say anything about a novel in the writers section?

reply

It was a paperback released as a tie-in to the movie.

Rob Lowe was in "The Outsiders" as a teenager which had a whole slew of future stars. He asked the author, S E Hinton, who had a bit part in the movie
what happened to his character "Sodapop." She told him his fiance jilted Sodapop. He was drafted and sent to Viet Nam where he was killed. Lowe said it left him depressed. Sometimes life is *beep* and then you die.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

Ancient post, but thanks for sharing this! I guess maybe Stanley wasn't lying when he said Frannie wasn't pregnant!
