Is it me, or is the field waaaay too short? Yard lines too close

Whenever you see a tackle, take a look at the length the downed player covers in yards. They always cover two yards, easy. That's over six feet, and I'm not talking about the player being stretched out and covering "two yards", either. The only one well over six feet in this guy is Richard Kiel, and he's not the one being tackled.

It looks like the "yard lines" are about two to two-and-half-feet apart, making the field about 75 yards long.

Why would they do this? Did it really make all that much difference in filming? Weird.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
