Why? So it could be over glorified like Donnie Darko is? Better to be unknown than to be known.

Haha you said it! "(..) Donnie Darko (..)" I think Louis Malle has sunk into oblivion a little, don't you think? I'm not sure why, he's not very known among cinema circles either. I find him very talented, even that he isn't among my personal favourites.

Well, speaking as someone who didn't discover the excellent Lacombe Lucien until two years ago (35 years after its release), I can only say it was gratifying to learn the film opened to acclaim and received many awards - not only in France, but also in the USA and the UK (where it won the British Academy Award for Best Film).

And for the record, I also thought Donnie Darko was an excellent film. Quite different from Lacombe Lucien, of course, but accomplished and thought-provoking in its own way.
