The actor who plays Lucien Lacombe, Pierre Blaise, was killed a year after this movie in a car accident. I was interested in him so wanted to see what other films he'd done and I stumbled into this tragic fact. It really is very sad, apparently Blaise was a real farm boy from provincial France when Malle chose him to play the role of Lucien. To think that when you're watching this masterpiece, you're also watching the last year of the 23 year old actor's life..
