The Music Is So Dated!!

Stu Gardner, with assist by Dale Warren, created the music for this. It's SO over-the-top, 70's high-energy schmaltz. Gardner was also Music Director for "The Cosby Show." Interesting, because in "The Klansman." it sounds so TV driven, like "Starsky and Hutch" or "CHiPs." Close your eyes during action highway sequence a little over 7 minutes in and you can almost picture Erik Estrada on his highway cycle chasing a bad guy. Oh, to those wondering if Burton was drunk on screen....lol, oh please! Obviously so. Just watch the flick. The booze his character offers Marvin was the real thing and Richard (normally a GREAT actor) used it plentifully during shooting.(Hey, it made his appearance in the movie far less painful.) He redeemed himself with an Oscar nomination for "Equus" three years later. Many, myself included, believe he should have won, not Richard Dreyfuss for "The Goodbye Girl."

Even the KKK are dated.

So what did you want, a hip-hop soundtrack? All movies are, to some extent or another, cultural and historical artifacts of their time.
